Russel Shorto Russell Shorto is director of the John Adams Institute in Amsterdam, and a contributing writer at the New York Times Magazine. He is the author of four books, including The Island at the Center of the World, about the Dutch founding of New York, and, most recently, Descartes' Bones. He lives in Amsterdam. Jo Parfitt Jo Parfitt has published 26 non-fiction books, is a journalist, editor and publisher and mentors others to write and publish their books. She has lived in Dubai, Oman, Norway and is now based in The Hague, the Netherlands. She specializes in inspiring and empowering people to write about what they know. Han van der Horst Han van der Horst (1949) is a historian and communications adviser at Nuffic, the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education. Van der Horst is also a book reviewer for national Dutch radio and a prolific writer himself. His book The Low Sky, understanding the Dutch - is considered essential reading for expats. He says he is 'delighted' to be part of the judging panel.
Anne de Graaf An American who has lived in the Netherlands for 25 years, Anne de Graaf is the author of more than 80 children's books and four adult novels and has sold five million books worldwide in over 50 languages. She is also the winner of the Christy Award for (Adult) Suspense Fiction and East-European Christian Literature Award and lectures at Webster University. Read more at Anne de Graaf's website.
Robin Pascoe Robin Pascoe is editor and one of the founders of news website DutchNews.nl. She worked previously as a journalist for the Financieele Dagblad, Reuters Television and the BBC and is co-author of the books A Dictionary of Dutchness and the Eyewitness Guide to Amsterdam. Robin has lived in Amsterdam for 25 years. She is married to a Dutchman and has two teenaged children.
